Charles Durning Was Not A Nancy

Despite the fact that he made his living singing, dancing, and acting – often alongside Muppets – Charles Durning was not a Nancy.
Proof of this fact came in the form of the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and three Purple Heart medals he received for his service in WW II. That service included him being the only member of his Army unit to survive the first wave of the Normandy Invasion, his killing several Nazis – including one he killed with a rock after getting bayonetted in the hand-to-hand melee – being wounded in the leg by an enemy mine.
Yes, Durning was an All American Hero.
